Man, all I remember from this year was Persona 5, Final Fantasy 15 and...oh, I guess Doom came out. Uncharted 4 was cool, but some of these games were so hyped. At least The Last Guardian finally came out, I guess. And beh, Street Fighter V. As in V-Trigger revolution or...something.

Editing … The beginning of dashed hopes and dreams. I gotta say though, Final Fantasy 15 surprised me. A giant open-world Final Fantasy with delicious food, tons of side quests and DLC that's actually worth playing? Count me in.

Editing … Project Diva Future Tone also flew the radar. It's only available as a PS4 download, but it's a gorgeous version of the Japanese arcade game. Those graphics...wow.

Editing … I need to go back to FF15 but I am not sure whether to restart it or not. I stopped playing for a while because they were working on a huge update for it. I never quite managed to get back to it. I might see what price the DLC is when I eventually do though. It was a really fun game and I reckon I'd not be sad to replay it from the start.

Editing … Actually most of the updates were just extra features. Such as--a multiplayer co-op mode and a new story path when Noctis arrives back home. The best features were only unlocked after I finished the main story. By then I didn't have much of a reason to replay anything.

Editing … The funniest upgrade, the Assassin's Festival, came out on the release of Assassin's Creed: Origins. It's absolutely unnecessary, but it's...silly. I didn't know that Noctis and Prompto were big fans of Assassin's Creed.

Editing … Oh, THOSE changes. Well, that definitely can't be helped. Although I'm not sure how else Square-Enix could change that section of ultra-powerful behemoths. Maybe they'll try to make a cheap version of the last stage of Xenoblade...

Editing … I already have trouble imagining some of the Final Fantasy 15 areas without walls. It was hard enough to piece some of those areas with the storyline. I dunno...Xenoblade just got everything right before Final Fantasy ever could.

Editing … It didn't remove all of them, just less of them in general now. That's awesome the AC stuff is still available. I might start from the beginning anyway though. Might be my next game but I can't decide yet. There's a bunch of stuff I want to play. I'm playing Lego City Undercover right now anyway.

Editing … I still love the atmosphere in FF15, but I wish there was some way to smooth out a lot of the story sections. I mean, Xenoblade wasn't perfect, but each section had some sort of relevance. Especially that section where Aeris (I mean Fiora) died.

Editing … I think it also depends on the experience of the development team working on the game. Guilty Gear Xrd was one of the best fighting games of this generation. But it became a huge success because Daisuke Ishiwatari and his programming team knew the Unreal Engine from the inside out. I've heard him talk about the process at Anime Expo. He and his group knew that creating a new, super-fancy graphics engine would cost too much time and resources.
