After Solo bombed due to The Last Jedi sucking so hard, Lucasfilm's decided to put all standalone Star Wars titles on hold, to focus their efforts on Rian Johnson's new trilogy.
lmao okay that's not backwards at all

Editing … And here I thought it bombed because it was just a bad movie concept that nobody outside of the die hard fanbase would want to see ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Editing … It's not that people don't want Han Solo, it's that the particular story they told was an unnecessary one and everyone knew it. If they had made one taking place post-OT that might have gone over better.

Editing … Tbh after the first two movies i doubt the hardcore fans wanted to see a Solo movie. Star Wars at this point is complete garbage. I don't give a fuck what happens in Disney Wars anymore.

Editing … Yeah it basically comes down to "what can we do that people will recognize because that will generate us the most profit." I haven't even bothered to see "The Last Jedi", but both "The Force Awakens" & "Rouge One" have strongly given me the impression that Disney will do as little as possible with Star Wars because they will still generate a profit regardless. Honestly if Disney wasn't stupid and just hired some one like a Ron Howard to begin with this probably would of turned out to be profitable because "lol Star Wars"

Audiences suck anyway, if the movie's real good then I'll enjoy not having to see anyone take out their phone to check the time IN A THEATER WHY WOULD YOU CHECK THE TIME ON YOUR SMALL SCREEN WHEN IN FRONT OF A BIG SCREEN ARE YOU A FUCKING IDIOT THERE'S OTHER PEOPLE HERE

Editing … Putting aside how bad Last Jedi was, it probably also didn't help Solo that it was only 6 months between Star Wars films and that Disney threw it out there straight after Infinity War/Deadpool 2.

Editing … I'd say it's probably a combination of franchise fatigue, and people simply not being interested in seeing Han Solo played by anyone but Harrison Ford. I know for me and my brother, as soon as we heard about the movie, we both wanted absolutely nothing to do with it. At the same time, Disney is really trying to milk this series like crazy, so giving it a bit of break after Episode IX can only be a good thing, tbh.

Editing … what about a film starring Luke set a year or two before TFA. p.s. what if Disney didn't "ruin" Star Wars. Maybe Star Wars just isn't a worthwhile property anymore. I mean look at Rogue One. The whole point of that film is that it's Star Wars movie that isn't the typical style of a Star Wars movie. The film itself in general doesn't mean anything. You see it because it has Death Star and Darth Vader in it and you know who/what those things are.

Editing … I don't think Star Wars will never not be a worthwhile property. Despite not being a big fan of it I do have to admit that it is THE franchise. I can't think of any series as big as it. Specially when you take into account that it's been huge since 1977

Editing … I kid. Yeah, Star Wars isn't going away. The thing is it's grown far beyond just being a movie franchise. It's been a multimedia juggernaut since at least the nineties, so there are fans of Star Wars books, comics, games, not to mention all the merchandise. I've got some great art on my wall, I've been to conventions dedicated specifically to Star Wars with tens of thousands of people. TCW and Rebels were both really popular and the new shows are likely to be too. The issue isn't the source material or even fatigue; they just need to market it a bit differently and play a bit smarter with the movies and people will come in droves.
