Americans loved Franz Ferdinand more than the Arctic Monkeys in this decade. I have no idea why. Maybe it had to do with Ferdinand's slick album cover that harkened back to Russian avant-garde imagery, or the way that they just wanted to make "music that girls could dance to." Either way, Americans just loved them because they were the cheesiest, hippest punk-ish band in the new post-punk wave. And hey, I was cool with them. Then the Arctic Monkeys came along...
