Out of all the Machinima-style shows, Red vs. Blue set the standard for everyone else with its quirky, existentialist characters. It was one of the first times that video game characters pondered their future through a virtual setting. The set pieces might have been limited to the graphical engine of Halo, but Red vs. Blue literally saved the Halo series from an early death. It also kept college kids entertained for an entire decade. And the series never really died at all.
