    It's credited with leading to the advent of movie showtimes, as Alfred Hitchcock specifically requested that theaters refrain from admitting viewers to the movie after it started, wanting everyone to be able to experience the big twist when it happened. Before that, it was actually considered normal for theaters to simply play movies in a loop, with moviegoers regularly walking in halfway through and leaving when it looped back around to where they originally came in.
