Pilot Part 2 was more trashy and soapy than the first episode, but I think it still worked okay. I think it's cause it's not very mean and there's not much yelling. Jenny might be kind of a bad person by the end of this episode, but I still feel for her somehow. Maybe it's just how good the performance is.
