This was the hardest hitting post-punk album that came out of England back in the days. Admittedly, the Americans didn't warm up to it because it didn't have catchy ballads. However, the (Arctic) Monkeys deserve credit for playing at such an insane level of technical skill in guitars and drum work. All in their very first album. It would take years before they produced another big splash in the U.S., but all the true indie rock nuts knew that this band was the real deal.
