Saved! They all leave in the end :(
-
Saved!Rich .Editing … I'm losing interest myself to be honest. I like the people here but the lists are painfully short, the new ones are few and far between and it's even getting quiet in terms of conversation now.
-
Saved!Silent GamerEditing … There are still enough people I like here making posts that I enjoy so I'm not too bothered anymore. As I've said before, Favslist is the only site I'm part of, so it's not really that hard to devote time to it. Moving to another website would be too much hassle and unless there is one like OG Favslist, then I doubt I'd be tempted anyway.
-
Saved!AxersiaEditing … Yeah, it's a real bummer. I still remember one of Papi's early posts on this site "In a year when we have over 10k members..." Well, we're coming up on 4 years in, and the members counter is still below 10k. This site was horribly mismanaged right from the get-go. I mean, the fact that there's no mobile-optimized site or much of an app is absolutely crazy. This site never should've been allowed to launch without at least a mobile-optimized website. The entire site screams Web 2.0 in a Web 3.0/App Economy world. Even at launch I thought to myself "It's great that you're all so confident in the product, but in the state that it is now, this shit's going nowhere". And, well, nothing much has changed since then, so it went nowhere.

Saved!SudertumEditing … Fits pretty much Demi, it is just a shame. Was yesterday at unikgamer, Made me sad as it is spammed with threads about fake passports. My thoughts about favslist? Why is nothing happening? I don't know. Back to haafie absence, sadens me too. Should look at Paradoxplaza for him then my PC gets Internet...
-
Saved!Rich .Editing … I've been pretty sure the potential of the site's premise is going to go untapped for a while now. Last time I suggested some ideas I thought would get the community more active and attract more members Pape basically told me he was never going to give us those features and that I should look for another site if that's what I want.
-
Saved!SudertumEditing … Seriously that were his words? Oh dear...
-
Saved!Rich .Editing … He suggested ranker.com if I remember right.
-
Saved!AxersiaEditing … Yes, he did. Ranker actually fits the mold of what people want out of websites these days. Tons of pictures, mostly white layout, mobile-optimized. It might also look extremely obnoxious to some of us who came here through unikGamer and are used to gaming sites, but you can totally see why they're actually succesful with the general public while Favslist is not. If Favslist didn't wanna be Ranker, I don't think it ever really benefited from catering outside of the games/movies/general geekdom crowd. I mean, didn't we have a Favorite Cosmetic Brands list at some point? I wouldn't know as it's a huge pain to track it down if it's still here. This site is just a really hard sell to the general public.
-
Saved!UltyEditing … I'm with @richardpale, i'm not nearly as active as I was when Favslist started (and definitely way less active than when unikGamer was the shit) and i'm slowly starting to lose interest as well. Main reason being that the site hasn't really evolved in the past 2 years, lots of promised features ended up in limbo and the site itself is still buggy as fuck. I love the site and its concept, I still defend that it was the next logical step for unikGamer, but I can't hide my dissapointment on how the site was managed. The only real reason why i'm here is because I love every single one of you assholes, including Gries He.
-
Saved!MarconeAnteliusEditing … If money is an issue then I'd support the site through Patreon. I wouldn't expect any kind of reward, just a better knowledge that my money isn't being pocketed. Longer lists, mobile app, more say in what kind of lists we have, better site optimization, etc. As it stands I only use this site probably once a week to rank things because it hasn't changed since it launched.
-
Saved!Silent GamerEditing … ^ Damn straight, although tbh simply removing the limitations on the list would make it the ideal site for me. As it stands, it is a poor place for ranking things. As evidenced by the fact people are now making lists on other sites and posting them here.
-
Saved!LizardTaroEditing … Oh, another "FAVSLIST IS DOOOOMED!!111" discussion.
-
Saved!Silent GamerEditing … It's almost like it's a constant concern...
-
Saved!Rich .Editing … I donated to the site a while back, quite a few of us did but the bar for donations resulting in lists and features is set pretty high so it didn't result in the site developing much more quickly. https://www.favslist.com/donate
-
Saved!Silent GamerEditing … I couldn't donate much at the time because my trip to Japan had pretty much bankrupted me for 4 months. Then the infamous culling of the honorable mentions happened and I no longer saw the point. Why donate to a site that no longer provides the one thing that attracted you to it in the first place.
-
Saved!UltyEditing … I bought one of those limited Favslist t-shirts, and still wear it once in awhile.
-
Saved!Rich .Editing … I never made a fuss about it at the time but when I donated I used the donation to suggest the "Use the database to make personal custom lists on their profiles" feature and that was just ignored so I donated for nothing. Since that happened I didn't want to give more.
-
Saved!UltyEditing … I'm kind of lucky that my biggest request by far actually ended up happening (no character limit for reviews)
-
Saved!Silent GamerEditing … I vote for the abolition of all limits. I mean seriously, when were restrictions ever fun?
-
Saved!Rich .Editing … "But it makes you agonise over what you can and can't include in the very limited room and that extra thinking makes the list better" - Pape, basically.
-
Saved!PapissamaEditing … The app will be released this November for both iOS and Android. If it doesn't, come get me :D
-
Saved!Silent GamerEditing … I can understand that philosophy, and yeah that works on a one time list. But what is the point of making a list and then just forgetting about, letting it disappear into the archives of the internet. The thing that attracted me to Favslist wasn't just the fact that you could make lists on almost anything, but also that the combined "Facebook-like" nature of it meant that these lists were always being discussed. They were always relevant, with people revisiting lists in response to the reviews and lists of others. Everything felt constantly alive. We can still see this but in a much more limited form. People see someone mention something, they get nostalgic over it then they head off to alter a list. Only this time, doing so would actually REMOVE content rather than add, so they get upset and come rant about it. I don't know when Pape switched to this more stagnant "make a new list then sit around waiting for the next one" format, but in my mind, that's what is killing the site for me.
-
Saved!LizardTaroEditing … Awesome! Will the site still get a redesign this year?
-
Saved!PapissamaEditing … I'm sure that one day, you guys will be so proud of what we've all accomplished together. Believe it or not, but this day is coming.
-
Saved!AxersiaEditing … Good to hear that you're still not giving up on the site.
-
Saved!Silent GamerEditing … Also, sorry @Haafie ! :P
-
Saved!UltyEditing … I'll believe it when I see it.
-
Saved!Rich .Editing … Even if you fix the glitches, make the layout nicer, make the site more modern and deliver a slick mobile app the central flaw of painfully short lists and new lists that are too few and too far between will still be there.
-
Saved!Husky WingEditing … Is that a hint that you're fixing the lists, Pape?
-
Saved!MarconeAnteliusEditing … "If it doesn't, come get me" *buys pitchforks and torches, passes them all around*
-
Saved!Michael ZEditing … Ranker is shit, if you think Favslist is buggy then you *really* have another thing coming with that site.
-
Saved!NodleyEditing … I think what I would have said has been said already. Just look at that, a bashing that wasn't instigated by the nodster! I fear Favslist is finished reading this. This was once my only internet place, now it's somewhere I come when something reminds me it still exists. I have found a new place where activity is much higher, just random chit-chat and some banter, nothing fancy in the way of lists or actual things to do, but at least I can socialise pretty much when I'm free, someone will always be there. I'll miss a few of you guys maybe, but I made some new friends, I'm good at that being so god damn fucking likeable :P One has even donated on my Decembeard fundraising page. Don't cry though, I'm not leaving you all just yet. If things do improve I'll start coming back more. If you lose me forever you know who to blame: Pape and his evil henchmen. Revolt in my absence as I once led you at UnikGamer, do the nodster pround. Amen.
-
Saved!Silent GamerEditing … And with that, my plan to get out of doing quizzes is complete. Rousing success all round!
-
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … "But what is the point of making a list and then just forgetting about, letting it disappear into the archives of the internet." which is the whole problem with having a list making site. The whole premise behind the site needs to be seriously thought over imo.
-
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … "I don't know when Pape switched to this more stagnant "make a new list then sit around waiting for the next one" format, but in my mind, that's what is killing the site for me." It happened when people kept requesting new lists every week. (you know who you are) But arguably this meant that "making a list then sit around being bored" was already what people were doing. Personally I propose culling some of the list categories.
-
Saved!Husky WingEditing … pls upload "contrarian brainstorming.docx" to mediafire so I can take a look at your thought process
-
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … Remember when ug switched from "best" to "favorite"? That felt condescending. I say change it to "must play". (must watch for movies, must read for books, etc) And remove list order. Instead of ranking items we vote on them and our lists are simply the 10 items we voted on. The scoring system should prob be replaced too, so that it's 1 point each.
-
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … Gries has like 200 lists. The problem isn't that I'm not going to bother to read them all but the fact that it's painfully clear he doesn't update them. When the site has too many lists it causes people to neglect their lists.
-
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … Current favorite gaming should be renamed to currently playing.
-
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … Favorite franchises, game developers, livestreamers, gaming personalities, characters, storylines, levels, bosses (too ambiguously defined), should probably be cut. Favorite game per generation should probably be cut, the only reason to have yearly lists is to discuss goty awards, but gens don't have awards, I think? Or you might combine ps and Xbox into a single list list category. (ps3 and 360 being one, and PS4 and One being another) And that would sort of function like gens. Favorite Nintendo systems games should be cut. Favorite final fantasy games should stay and more franchises should be introduced.
-
Saved!Husky WingEditing … I've wanted to update plenty of my lists, they don't want to be neglected. But why the hell would I update lists now that they've all been ruined?
-
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … Deleted by himself
-
Saved!LizardTaroEditing … I have a great solution to solve all problems. Just cut every list to 5 entries. Even the ones that aren't edited. There you go.
-
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … Deleted by himself
-
Saved!Silent GamerEditing … ^ That's not funny (;一_一)
-
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … First things first, there needs to be a way to block people from following you.
-
Saved!SudertumEditing … Nodley deleted his Lists...
-
Saved!LizardTaroEditing … He also removed his friends. Forever alone?
-
Saved!Silent GamerEditing … He's such a diva.
-
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … Btw my last comment got me thinking, is blocking someone statism? Well not really since you're not invoking a third party. Sort of. But it kind of is statist in the sense that it's anti social and represents a failure to work things out with the person directly instead of blocking them. So maybe instead of asking pape to let me remove someone from my followers I can just ask that person to unfollow me? Sounds crazy right? I mean who the fuck asks someone to unfollow them. But something tells me I should try. The point is to at least try.
-
Saved!Husky WingEditing … "Statist" = "believes in laws, regulations, government" for anyone who's curious
-
Saved!Husky WingEditing … "Statist" is the assigned term by libertarians for anyone who doesn't agree with them.
-
Saved!Husky WingEditing … Rockshard, "statism" is not a thing. I don't know what crazy YouTuber you've been watching recently-- That Guy T? Freedom Toons? Stefan Molyneux? You should critically analyze what you're hearing from them.
-
Saved!Silent GamerEditing … What are you talking about. Censorship is great! Block everyone!! Damn liberals! Spoiler (But nah, seriously there should be a way to choose who follows you, the same as you can choose who can "friend" you)
-
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … Personally I find the whole idea of recognizing statism to be profoundly enlightening even apart from the whole libertarianism thing. It's precisely about critically analyzing things.
