Editing … D-pad aside the 360 pad's a way way better controller than the Dualshock 2. It's a lot more ergonomic for adult sized hands, it has triggers instead of just second shoulder buttons and it's wireless.

Editing … I'm not sure why the Dualshock 2 deserves any credit to be honest, it's just a rereleased Dualshock 1 with some different paint.

      Editing … Ooohhh, that's why I'm not big on the 360 pad. I don't have adult-sized hands.

Editing … Good, lol. Dualshock 2 is good, but you can't just say it's a great controller just because the system is legendary.

Editing … While we're on the topic, the original PS1 controller (the one with no analogue sticks that everyone stopped using when the dualshock came out) is your second favourite controller @Waluigifan !? That's a really weird choice.

Editing … "That's a really weird choice" *in your opinion. I just happen to have a different one. Crazy, huh? Anyways, since you want me to explain it so bad: I used to play games with the original PS1 controller when I was younger and I liked it.

Editing … You should play a bit with the 360 pad. I'd been on Sony since 1995, and didn't get my hands on one until about 2009. Within a few hours I loved them, so much better natural feel to them, they just lay in your hands in the perfect position.

Editing … Well, yeah. Calling something weird is only ever an opinion, that goes without saying. It just seems odd to me that it has fans. Not having analogue sticks was a pretty major flaw once gaming went 3d, Sony obviously realised that, they didn't even wait for a new console to release a better controller.

Editing … Maybe they figured Sixaxis came first and all DS3 did was add in the rumble feature once Sony got the patent back.

Editing … Have I mentioned how I think the DS4 is rubbish? It makes noises at me, and feels worse than the DS3 in my hands.

Editing … I like the DS4 way more than the DS3. It's not as good as the XB1 controller but other than that it's one of the best. Fits my hands way better than DS1-3 and the triggers are a big improvement. That touchpad's unnecessary though, don't think I've seen a game actually use it yet.

Editing … Second shoulder buttons are better than triggers, because you have easy access to all four shoulder buttons, whereas bumpers are treated as secondary and don't feel as ergonomic. Try holding the controller and imagine using it as an snes controller (using bumpers only) and it feels very weird. So in my view the ds2 is more practical for serious 3d gaming, not to mention they are better if you dont require analog input, which is true for 99 percent of games. That said triggers do have one advantage, they might be more nongamer friendly since the triggers and bumpers are completely distinct. And it feels more natural to default to the triggers. (so the fact the bumpers feel weird is kind of a benefit here) Meaning that there's no confusion like there is on playstation over whether to use R1 or R2 to fire or which row is the main one and which is the secondary. "its just a dual shock 1 with coat of paint" That's because it didn't need improving, unlike the original Xbox controller with its hilarious two triggers, six face button design, like its a Sega Saturn controller.

Editing … I do prefer the DS3's L2/R2 hugely over LT/RT. I also prefer the PS3's method of shooting with R1, whereas the 360 goes with RT.

Editing … That d-pad is complete shit, it's not just "lame," it's complete trash. Why Microsoft didn't release a new controller in the seventh generation to fix that issue is beyond me. It's going to forever keep me from ever wasting money on a 360 gamepad.
