Pompeii has a very nice visual style. I love the set design, the costumes, and the use of 3D in the nature environments. However, all the action is poorly choreographed, the acting and dialogue are flat, and the CGI is horribly outdated.
It almost feels like two minds made this movie. "We could have Romeo and Juliet in Pompeii! Romeo, a gladiator, a slave--Juliet, rich! But alas, these starcrossed lovers are doomed by Vesuvius!" "Gladiators fight! Volcanoes explode! Bwoosh!"
Like if James Cameron's retarded brother turned Titanic into a disaster movie.
