This is a thing. Someone sat down, wrote this and said "this is okay". "The Identical" is hilariously bad, it walks the fine line between "so bad it's good" but just quite doesn't get into that category. I mean what was the thought process of the person writing the screenplay? I can only imagine: "Hey guise! did you know that Elvis had a twin brother that died at birth? And that it haunted him his entire life??" "Ok, and your point?" "Well what if we use that as a backdrop for a movie about religious tolerance!" "WTF does that have to do with Elvis?" "Shut up I've already started". I mean I guess that's what this 'thing' is about, in all honesty I had a hard time 'getting' it due to a combination of awful pacing and my laughter. "The Identical" is a so misguided its painful & absolutely hilarious to watch. In some of the worst movies that I've seen I can least find SOMETHING noteworthy, something that at least allows me to say "well it wasn't all bad, it did something right". I can do this for "Twilight" or some of the "Transformers" movies, I flat out can't do it here. "The Identical" is consistently bad from start to finish, a film that starts flat out on its face and drags itself along concrete until the end credits. It doesn't help that the lead in this film cannot act to save his life. And you know why he cannot act? Because he is a f*cking Elvis impersonator in real life, not a f*cking actor - which really isn't even a good excuse because I've seen a bum act better then this dude. Watching him try to pull off the seriousness of this film is hilariously bad, hell watching this film try to pull off being serious at all is hilariously bad. Again, I just do not get why the Elvis subject matter as a backdrop is so important, it doesn't make a lick of sense to me. When you boil it down, "The Identical" adds up to nothing. It's an 1 hr and 49 min of varying moments that invoke either cringe, comedy, or both for anyone who watches it; nothing in it works at all. This is the type of bad that I believe the lovers of bad movies will get a kick out of it, its got that special kind of bad.
