I noticed that right before Raihan's match he suddenly starts talking in the third person. And he does so in a way that strongly suggests that the translator asssumed he must be writing dialogue for an NPC talking about Raihan, not Raihan himself. -_-

Eight gyms beated. I actually lost to Raihan tho. I suppose that's the second time I lose a gym battle.

But there is still all that tedious "saving the world" bullshit I'll have to get through before I can actually fight Leon and beat the game. x_x Fine, let's get this over with.

I now have the gold Hyrule edition Nintendo Switch Lite. It's used of course, but it looks/feels completely new. What have I done?? I prefer beat-up old systems, it feels weird to own something this nice. (And might I add it is VERY NICE! What with it being gold and all that.)

Gives me second thoughts about my idea to sell my primary Switch which I still own the original box/charger for and everything. Because what would be the point of selling that one, which also has my 400+ hour Pokemon save on it, but not this one? Because I still own the original box? Oh my god.

False alarm. I went to user settings and changed one thing and now it lets me carry on playing Pokemon exactly as I was before the update. So I guess everything is okay now although they very nearly gave me a heart attack. (Why the update makes you have to re-enable it is beyond me)

So now I'm guessing the update was simply meant to future proof the Switch with the Switch 2 which will use this new "virtual game card" system. I wonder if there are any advantages to using it if you just own a Switch 1. Maybe it lets you use your secondary system offline? That would be neat.

A system update was just released for the Switch that won't let me play any games without first updating my primary Switch. Nintendo just seriously fucked me over. I had over 25 hours in my Pokemon Shield playthrough, 3 gyms completed, Isle of Armor completed, and countless pokemon caught *in multiples* including 6+ each of Croagunk, Staryu, Heliopile, the sand castle pokemon, 4 Sudowoodu, Maractus, Hoothoot, etc, etc.

Even despite that I would strongly consider formatting my system and starting over as the primary system just so I could keep playing today, except that there's no guarantee that it would even let me do that, so I'd be permanently erasing my save file for nothing. So I shouldn't do anything reckless. I have a PSP somewhere, maybe I can fall back on that.

Even before this happened I was wondering if it was possible to designate your secondary Nintendo Switch system into your primary one without having to lose all save data on it. But I figured there was no rush. I was perfectly fine using this Switch as a secondary even though it requires you be on wifi 24/7 but as of today Nintendo put a stop to that.

And husky would be like "wait so what's the problem". You wanna know the problem? The problem is up until today I was able to play Pokemon just fine (provided I was on wifi) whereas now when I try to boot up the game it says: "Sure thing, just go find your other Switch, charge it, update it, then get back here. I'll wait"

Editing … I thought you might say like, your first Switch was missing and this update requirement made it impossible to play Pokemon, or there was an important reason for staying on your chosen firmware version (like for cfw--though current Switch cfw relies on a hardware exploit, works with any firmware version). Also your savegame might be on the SD card, or could be transferred to an SD card, if you ever do wanna format the Switch for any reason and wanna keep your savegames.

Editing … There may be ppl out there whose first Switch is missing or non working. (I hear it's possible to brick a Switch simply by not using it for over a year) That or they bring their second switch with them on a trip and find out the very first day of the trip that they can't use it. Statistically speaking, both of these are very likely occurrences given how well the Switch sold. A lot of people got inconvenienced today. Some of them probably reacting to this worse than I am. Also, if it's a family, you can't guarantee the parent who bought the consoles isn't going be fuming because of this even if the kids are ok with it, or vice versa. Somehow I imagine Nintendo is "finding out" a lot today. (or at least the poor souls hired to work their customer service department)

I finally started a new playthrough. It's official, this game is head and shoulders above the rest of the Switch library to an extent where it's not funny, and playing it a second time helped me appreciate just how much of a master work it is, both aesthetically and mechanically but also even the story. I started my play on the 24th, it's currently the 26th and I already have 13h 56m minutes play time and completed three gyms. I also defeated Nessa's Drednaw in ONE PUNCH!! (I'm pretty sure on my first playthrough I lost to Nessa on my first attempt, which actually felt embarrassing. Why would I be embarrassed? I unno, something about this game has powers!! It does a really good job at selling the gym battles!)

What's interesting is the dlc is available before completing the main story, so just now I decided to try visiting the Isle of Armor. It remains to me seen however what extent I'm able to do everything on it this early. Imagine having to collect 150 digletts again, though. Sigh, better get started.. x(

    P.S. One punch!!!
