the pacing in this is so lmao
actually this whole movie is pretty lmao
    what a mess
the actual book of the half-blood prince comes up like twice and then Harry's like "OH GOD THIS HAS BEEN SUCH A HEAVY INFLUENCE THIS YEAR I NEED TO GET RID OF IT"
the whole ending lacks any impact if you only know the story of the movie. "I am the Half-Blood Prince." lmao who cares, that may have mattered in the novel but no one really bothered with his book here.

and Nigel hardly even appears, don't think he has a single line. That was the greatest sin this movie committed.

Editing … I kept wondering why the movie included that quote if it didn't even explain Snape's nickname very well.

Been watching all of the HP movies for the first time, and good lord, this might just be my least favorite so far behind even Prisoner of Azkaban. It really drives home a complaint I've had about the movies in general, which is that almost all of them are too perpetually grim and serious. And it was so DULL, too much time was spent on the Ron/Hermione drama, and why was it even more devoid of color than the other movies with half of it being just straight black and white? Bad Stuff after Order of the Phoenix, which I loved.

Editing … I agree! Feel far too much was spent on tepid romance, to the complete detriment of the plot. I have to agree with you about Azkaban though; I think that is the strongest of the series. I'm rewatching them at the rate of about 1 a week, and just saw Goblet, but am really not looking forwards to Half Blood prince.

Editing … To clarify I didn't like Azkaban terribly either, prolly my second least favorite. Still need to watch Deathly Hallows but from what my friends told me it's also very serious in tone. Which is a shame because Rowling invented such a compelling and charming mythos, just to throw it all away on constant doom and gloom. The books are probably different, but I don't have the time or ability to read long books anymore. Maybe audiobooks are the answer.

Editing … The first two books are nice and magical, but after that it gets exponentially more edgy and doom and gloomy. I don't like the books very much. Such a nice world gone to waste as you said.

This was my favorite one past Chamber of Secrets (I haven't seen Deathly Hallows part 2 cause I really didn't like part 1). The tone, visuals, and pacing all felt really good.

At this point in the series the movies seem to have lost their own identity and feel like just a chapter in a longer story. I still like them of course, they are still good films, I just preferred it when each movie could stand on its own. Helena Bonham Carter was very good though, I'd like to see her in a Pirates of the Caribbean movie, I think she could be a female version of Jack Sparrow.
