Castlevania has historically been split between sidescrolling action and Metroid/RPG ripoffs. The former includes some of the best games on Classic platforms while the latter includes half the greatest entries in its subgenre. The series has faded somewhat after Lords of Shadow came around, but remember when there were six distinct and high quality Metroid-likes released from 2001 to 2008 on the GBA and DS?
