Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is a 2009 first-person shooter video game developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Windows. Officially announced on February 11, 2009, the game was released worldwide on November 10, 2009. It is the sixth installment of the Call of Duty series and the direct sequel to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, continuing the same storyline, with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 ending the storyline. However, while the working title 'Call of Duty 6' was used by Infinity Ward to refer to the game, an official statement from the company stated that "It would be incorrect to refer to 'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2' as Call of Duty 6".     The only level in Modern Warfare 2 that I liked was the one where you had to run across rooftops in first-person.

    I wonder why that is.

    Gets a 7 mostly because the local multiplayer can be incredibly fun, especially when you're the only one who has a rocket launcher. ;)
    But it's still a Call of Duty game, so there's not much else that's special about it and it's quite overrated, I think. Just not my kind of game.

    The improvements for the Call Of Duty franchise are debatable: on the one hand the co-op mode is a great challenging multiplayer experience; on the other hand the shuffling of perks – some were added, others (re)moved – allowed some horrible classes like the "runner" and the "double shotgun wielder", resulting in a terribly unbalanced game. And I'm not even talking about the recent cheaters surge yet. In addition, patches came in scarce amount and always late.

    But if you're a "collector" type of gamer there's a chance that you still might keep playing this, as this game is highly addictive. And that's the point: "Modern Warfare 2" not fun, it's just *addictive*.

    Oh, and there is a single-player campaign as well. But, god, I hate cinema games …

    Some people call this the gaming equivalent of a Michael Bay movie and I'd say that pretty much sums it up. It's cinematic and impressive but it isn't going to be a classic. The campaign is too scripted and the multiplayer is nowhere near balanced enough for that.
    It's strengths come from building off the same formula as Modern Warfare and that means it's a solid game, but it brings nothing new to the table, doesn't have the same impact and it goes backwards in a few ways.
    The plot holes, the glitches and the ridiculous amount of hype before it launched bugged me too. It's not a bad game by any means and it gets things right but it isn't in the same league as Call of Duty 4 for me.
