''Bill Cosby testified in 2005 that he got Quaaludes with the intent of giving them to young women he wanted to have sex with, and he admitted giving the sedative to at least one woman and "other people," according to documents obtained Monday by The Associated Press.''

Guess that's that... What a piece of shit.

Editing … 40--FORTY--victims came forward, but not one of them was taken seriously until this development came to light.

Editing … Filly, yes, victims came forward, but (correct me if I'm wrong here, as I haven't studied the case that closely) years and, in some cases, decades after the rape was committed. By then all the evidence was nonexistent and it was their words against his. Testimonies without hard evidence to back them up are next to useless. Granted, now we're outraged that no one listened to the victims, but when a person spends his/her whole life (and in some reported cases dies) in prison because of some false testimonies and loose evidence, what then? The thing I find most puzzling here is the fact that he admitted this in 2005 and had the ability to actually settle and get off the judicial hook. This is something I have seen before in the American judicial system and I can't believe that's at all allowed for criminal offences. Anyone care to explain it to me?

Editing … I'm not talking about the judicial system, I'm talking about the average person like you and me who have every right to take sides and not be impartial. I'm pretty sure most of them didn't express interest in pressing charges anyway. NO ONE fucking believed these women, even though there were fucking forty of them corroborating each other's stories about Bill Cosby's actions. Bill Cosby even fucking ~joked~ about drugging women in one of his stand up acts in the 60s. There are far, far, FAR more negative consequences associated with coming forward about being raped than there are positives because the public is already inclined not to believe you because of how our society thinks about rape, and this is ESPECIALLY true in high-profile cases like this where you will be even MORE subject to public scrutiny. This is why verifiably false rape accusations account for less than 2% of reported cases, and why I will ALWAYS believe rape victims unless they are PROVEN to be lying. Because for god's sake, SOMEONE has to support them.

Editing … Anyway idk what there is to explain, the judicial system hates women (who make up the overwhelming majority of rape victims) and wants any excuse to blame them for shit that happens to them or outright call them liars.

Editing … No, what I meant was: can anyone explain how does the settlement in such serious criminal offences work? 'cause being able to settle outside the court (or inside it, doesn't matter) for, in this case, a rape allegation is not only bizarre to me, but frankly horrifying.

Editing … I still stand by the ''innocent, until proven guilty'' motto. Haven't heard about those numbers before, but it all comes down to this question: ''would you rather throw two innocent guys into jail and ruin their lives forever or have 98 murderers/rapers walk freely?''

Editing … Once again, I'm not fucking talking about the judicial system. I'm talking about you, and me. Unless we're sitting on a jury, in which case being impartial would be good. But in instances where I'm not morally obligated to be impartial? Just casually talking about a case? I will side with statistics every time. If our judicial system and society gave one iota of a shit about rape victims then I wouldn't have to think that way.
