@Pape Badiane: The Arctic is not a continent. It is a territory (or region) that contains eight countries – or parts of them. Something similar to Scandinavia.

To be honest, the whole continental separation seems to be fucked up. I grew up with the understanding that there are five and only five continents. And now I'm reading on Wikipedia that Antarctica, North America, South America are all being treated as individual continents. But only by *some* people. Others consider Eurasia a continent, then there's Oceania and Afro-Eurasia … https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continent — We should probably list everything anyone considers a continent. (Though, Arctic doesn't seem to be considered a continent by anyone).

Maybe it's better to put all continents, countries, etc. into one big "Region" category and define continent-ness and country-ness by a subcategory. Like "Animal (Bird)". What do you think?

Editing … Only 5? I was always taught there were 7. Never heard of the arctic as a continent either though.

Editing … I agree about the Region category that envelops everything but I don't know if it will possible because the category "country" is already "linked to many others via nationality.

Editing … Yeah but a different five to your five Shige since Antarctica doesn't really get that involved in the Olympics ;) And I'd stick with saying continent or maybe pick what we're calling continent and call anything else regions.

Antarctica isn't considered a continent for the Olympics and neither was it in my false understanding. So, there's no difference there. — Would you consider Scandinavia a continental region?
