    I'm definitely not an alcoholic.

I'm a binge drinker. And I'm fucking good at it too.

Day 6 of not drinking. Today is hard, not only are the women in my life testing my patience but some good football games are on this afternoon.

Not sure I can make it through the day.

Editing … You say that now but if you really lived alone you'd just drink all day and play football manager and then wank all night and question existence too much. You'd have to live in a basement dwelling too to complete the single lifestyle. That would get old pretty fast. But you have a little mini me and you can teach them things and you are the best person in the world to them. What more could you want? The annoyances are all part of the fun. I always laugh when I see upset children in the super market. There is just something funny about the absolute guttedness they feel from not getting the candy they wanted. As if the world ended. I secretly laugh at them when they can’t see me.

Day 5 of not drinking. It's my daughters 19th birthday today, I really didn't think this through properly. I bought some alcohol free beer just in case the temptation gets too great.

Day 4 of not drinking. I don't feel healthier yet and my 6 pack isn't showing either. Maybe I'm wasting my time.

Day 3 without alcohol. Today is the first real test as I'm home from work by lunch and have hours to play games and watch movies.

I feel the urge to grab a beer for the first time so far.

    I'm considering giving up alcohol.

My problem is that once I have one I want more, and then I don't stop until I run out of beer in the house or I need to for a reason, like I'm up for work.

I love that first ice cold beer after work but never any of the others, after that first one I'm just wasting money and ruining my body.

Editing … I hear that a lot that people enjoy the 1st beer but every beer after that is not adding anything for them. I think the problem is that the 1st one is fun and then you think “well that was fun. I want that fun again, so I’ll have another” but the effect is not the same because you can’t have your 1st beer again. It’s like that with crisps too. You eat a portion of crisps and think “well that was tasty. I want to experience that again” but the novelty is already worn off and you will only feel gross and ill if you keep eating more. People are shit at pacing themselves. Maybe people need time dependant junk food/beer dispensers. You can only get one junk food a day from your own personal junk food bank. Maybe it would be like a time based vending machine you can only operate after a predetermined number of hours. You can set it to once a day, once a week or even once a month or once a year.

Editing … To be fair, I can enjoy an ice cold coke after work as much as a beer, it's like the ritual of being done and finally chilling. But coke is just as bad.

Editing … That doesn't sound like a bad idea. Just like with smoking. People who want to quit chew gum in situations they would usually smoke in. Is there something healthier than beer that you enjoy and associate with chilling? I think people just like the ritual of preparing the drink and taking time to rest. You can do that with many drinks. Tea is great for that. You can make tea as easy or as complicated as you want or as hot or cold as you want.

Editing … What about 0% beer? If you take that for a while your brain will at least learn that the taste of beer does not = alcohol. So no need for more beer than to get the taste.

Editing … hehe yes I guess it takes more processing to take out the alcohol and they want to cash in on the desperation of AA members too of course. If I remember beer without alcohol had some healthy aspects like anti-oxidants and some b vitamins. Plus there is no added sugar like in cola. I can’t really see anything wrong with it except for the calories maybe. It seems pretty okay actually if you take out the alcohol part.
