"Nintendo got ARMS, Splatoon, Metroid, Zelda, and Mario. They announced Metroid Prime 4 and Pokemon Switch.
Sony got Horizon, Crash, Uncharted, Persona, and Yakuza. They announced Monster Hunter World and Shadows of the Colossus remake.
Microsoft announced an upgraded Xbox One. Not much else.
Ubisoft dropped the surprise hit of Mario + Rabbids, and Beyond Good & Evil fans finally get to see something for their favorite game (in my opinion, they won E3).
Bethesda celebrated itself with more Skyrim but they also released the new Wolfenstein which people like.
SEGA simultaneously made one of the best games of the year and one of the worst games of the year. Somehow both in the same franchise.
Blizzard brought a new hero to Overwatch, remastered Starcraft 1 and made Starcraft 2 free, then they announced WoW Classic.
The indie scene brought us Yooka-Laylee, A Hat in Time, and Cuphead.
EA f*ucked themselves in the arse.

Everyone has something to be happy with. Except Star Wars fans."

Editing … Due to significantly reduced gaming time this year I could focus on the few genres, franchises and games I seemingly enjoy the most: batman, lego, final fantasy, construction/management god games, action adventure games and artsy games.

Editing … What did I beat? I either hit the evaluation in Stardew Valley at early this year or last year, which I think of as beating it. I replayed Spyro 2. I did multiple replays in The Last of Us. I got all 50 perfects in Rhythm Heaven, which was hard as balls, the toughest thing I've done in a game.

Editing … The first game released in 2017 that I'm going to buy/play will be Prey, but apart from that I don't think I've played anything from this year yet. Edit: I've completely forgotten about Super Mario Run, which I played for like 5 minutes. Also Yooka Laylee

Editing … There are still a lot of DLC/expansions and downloadable games that interest me like Pyre, Hellblade, Hollow Knight, Uncharted 4: The Lost Legacy, and XCOM 2: War of the Chosen, but I'll probably grab most of those during one of the big Steam sales. This also seems like one of the few years where Nintendo is putting out some of the best stuff, but I won't be buying a Switch until its library at least triples.

I've also got pre-orders on Mario Odyssey, Xenoblade 2, .hack//G.U. Collection, Superbeat XONiC on Switch, and some other stuff that I'll probably cancel because these next few months are too crowded. Anyway, for me this has been the best year in gaming since 2010.

Deciding to try out this whole "not buying a ton of games I will never play" plan. So this year I will be buying #Persona 5, #Mass Effect: Andromeda and #Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony and that is it! Hopefully, haha :P

Editing … I'm following a similar plan of only buying games I think I'll finish.... And I'm already up to 5 games purchased that are out now, plus 3 more I have preordered. 3 of the 5 purchased games have been beaten, plus I "beat" a game I won from a streamer, and one of the other 5 I'm currently playing now and will finish, with the only other one being a game I will beat as soon as I have a laptop that can run it properly. So basically, I'm buying a lot of games, but so far I'm doing a good job of sticking with them, because everything Ive played this year so far has been awesome.

Editing … I just finally came to the realisation that I was having less fun with games since I started trying to beat them all than I did when I just played whatever the hell I liked. Not finishing a game felt like a failure, when I never played that way for the first 20 years I was gaming. Time to go back to having fun with games and not trying to play everything I am recommneded. I don't need to buy the new games. Them being new doesn't make them better than the 1000+ games I already have sitting there. It's gonna be fun trying them all out, now that I don't feel teh pressure of the backlog ^_^
