A very interesting year for Silent Gamer :) Began the year a sad, broken man and ended it filled with enthusiasm and confidence ^^ And this transformation all started with:

    "March 20th 2014 - Silent Gamer joined Favslist!" :D
SpoilerMarch/April - Originally testing the site out and being disappointed, I decided I would wait it out and see if things improved. Spent the first month transferring my lists from UnikGamer and making lists here and there.

April 25th - Received my first friend request! :0 Damn near crapped myself! "I've never spoken to anyone on the internet before! :O I can't do this!" Luckily it was a friendly chap by the name of @nodley ^^ http://www.favslist.com/status/277946 Bonding over our mutual appreciation of videogames and Foo Fighters, I realised that this whole 'speaking to strangers' thing wasn't so bad after all :P

April 30th - Emboldened by my successful first interactions, I decided to drop a message on a group page :P "Perhaps I can make more friends there! :)" This would be the start of my spamming of the JRPGFans page :P

May - Had a bit of a relapse and fell into sadness and misery again

June - Remembered how happy Favslist had made me earlier in the year and elected to use it more often. Began visiting site every couple days, making more frequent posts and even commenting on people's lists :0 By July I was starting to feel like part of the site :)

July 2nd- Began watching Death Note. It was the first piece of non-videogame entertainment I had genuinely been excited by in a long, long time. I realised that I was starting to enjoy things the way I used to before the depression :) Blasted through it in a week.

July 14th-26th - After having made a couple new friends in work who were super into games, I was full on into the hobby again and decided to buy both a "gaming" laptop and a VITA. These were the best purchases I could have ever made :) Especially the VITA, because......

September/October - Played Persona 4. The game affected me in a way I never thought a videogame could. It changed my whole mindset. I actually broke down during the end credits. My experience with the game caused me to re-evaluate my whole life. I realised I had neglected my friendships and kept my "true self" hidden for fear of being hurt. Made a promise to rekindle my friendships and be honest and truthful with everyone from that moment on. I would aim to follow my goals no matter how much the thought terrified me. This was a turning point that saw me begin planning a trip to the other side of the world, come out to my friends and call up some people I hadn't seen in years. I owe so much to Persona 4 and for that reason I don't think any other game will remove it from the top of my list.

November - Started losing weight :) By January of 2015, I will have went from 17.5st to 16st :D I also made the decision to start clearing the considerable backlog of games that had amassed over the years. This would lead to another turning point :) A friendly rivalry of sorts with another Favslister by the name of @Gries He :)

December - Spurred on by Gries, I set up my "Backlog Challenge" and set forth full of enthusiasm and excitement. Gaming was once again this exciting, amazing thing that I shared with friends and strangers alike! ^^ Onward I charged into the exciting future of 2015 and beyond!

I have completed my first task and it's not even 2014 yet.

My new years resolution for 2014:
    - Get a corner sofa ✓
    - Book a holiday somewhere I haven't been before
    - Get my tattoo finished
    - Gain a stone in weight by pushing more in the gym instead of being comfortable
    - Cut out the takeaways that have been sneaking into my diet because I'm lazy after work

Editing … corner sofa is the king of all sofas. I would have bought one if my previous appartment was bigger.

Editing … Indeed they are, I've wanted one for years. I got a swivel chair thingy too. Half price in the sales.

Editing … you can already cross "get a badass tattoo and grow the manliest beard" off your list. btw, I'm still going to drive my bike to work every day - unless of course some jackass decides to kill me with his car. then I probably won't do that anymore for a while.

Editing … Get my tattoo finished can be the first part of my resolution. Try not to run over any cyclists in my van can be part two. I need to think of a gaming part and an exercise part too.
