Fairly good album, Falls Apart is my favourite.

Editing … Yeah, this one surprisingly mellow. Supposedly the change in sound sort of happened after McGrath's grandma passed away. She was a big supporter of the band, even if she had mixed opinions about the early metal days. Falls Apart was a pretty big hit. It didn't get the same amount of attention as Every Morning or Someday, but the rock stations loved it.

Editing … On the other hand, mainstream radio preferred the pop side of Sugar Ray, which is stupid. I mean, they had good songs that appeared on...Road Rash 64 and American Pie. So f*** it. They rode their 15 minutes of fame (that's why this is called 14:59, sort of a joke), Mark McGrath became a big reporter for Extra (he used that journalism degree from USC) and then the band gained a big following years later. That's what the media gets for ignoring one of the most deserving bands of the 90s.

Editing … I've probably heard it back when Road Rash got big on the 3DO. There were a lot of grunge bands back then, so it was pretty hard to break out of the crowd. Sounds cool.

Editing … The band that really got snubbed in the 90s was Local H. First of all, there's only two performers, but they could probably beat up everyone. The black drummer especially deserved props. Probably broke a million drum sets on tour. I mean, they hated each other's guts later on, but it's probably 'cause they played "Fritz's Corner" all the f***ing time. Lol. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVDxePjMvsY

Editing … Local H was awesome. I remember Paw, I never had their CD but they played that video on MTV on 120 Minutes, I used to tape episodes of 120M and rewatch them so I've seen that vid a million times. Good times :)

Sugar Ray has always held an uneasy equilibrium between pop and nu metal rock. With 14:59, the band stopped worrying about which style they were trying to do and just played whatever creative idea just came to them at the time. The result is a unique mix--a cover of an 80s song, a few pop songs, and some heavy metal opening and closing jams just for good measure. The critics might have had mixed opinions about it, but it was a pretty neat twist for the nu metal scene. Sadly, the band gradually moved more to their pop side on later albums.
