SpoilerIt occurs to me in hindsight that the reason the showrunners had Ramsay meet such a grisly end was because of folks who complained that Joffrey's death wasn't slow or painful enough, which is a little fucked up. I found Joffrey's end unsatisfying as well, but it was because he was such a witless, spineless, hopeless little shit who was only shielded from the miserable fate he deserved by the circumstances of his birth, but that never stopped him from swaggering about like he was hot stuff. I wanted his end to involve something like Robb, or Stannis, or anyone really, having killed all Joffrey's guards, then knocking his sword from his trembling hand, with Joffrey then dropping to his knees and begging for mercy before having his head swiftly and justly lopped off. It's not about suffering, but about having Joffery realize he's a worthless, talentless waste, incapable of accomplishing anything on his own, before pissing his trousers upon realizing neither his Mummy nor anyone else is there to save him this time.

But it seems like the showrunners only heard the audience say "We wanted blood! Grisly, copious amounts of blood for the show's most grotesque characters!" and decided to end Ramsay by having our "noble" heroes feed him to his beloved pets who rip his jaw off and tear him apart piece by piece.

So with tonight's finale we can contrast that with Walder Frey's end coming at the expense of a slit throat; not exactly a quick and clean death, but not excessively cruel either, yet it still feels earned and satisfying. It was a rocky season, but I think this was a damn strong finale.

It started off slow, with me fully predicting what would happen in King's Landing, and it took its sweet time getting there with a whole lot of character staring and looking about. It also felt out of character for the High Sparrow to not recognize he was being outmaneuvered until the last second, especially with Margaery there telling him something was wrong. Also, it felt like the "little bird" was deliberately luring Lancel to the Wildfire before crippling him, and.... for what purpose exactly? Perhaps I read that scene wrong.

But after that, damn! So many characters snuffed out in a fiery instant, and I found Tommen's suicide equally shocking. Wouldn't mind knowing what the cover story is for the explosion. Doubt Cersei would be made Queen if the people knew the truth.

Overall it's hard to count how many payoffs and revelations came that must have had viewers saying "FUCKING FINALLY!" The big moments were obvious, but I loved seeing Tyrion being named Hand of the Queen, and Lyanna Mormont is now clearly S1 Arya 2.0.

Well I certainly can't wait for Season 7, so let the 8 month waiting period commence!
