Oh yea, saw this while I was out in Vegas. It was decent, nothing all that great though. It seems it wants to achieve an "old-school buddy cop" feel circa Lethal Weapon, but it doesn't really get there tbh. The plot is just a cluttered mess of who gives a damn, one that only gets worse and becomes more "white noise" the further it's "developed". The chemistry between Crowe & Gosling is decent, though it does feel that Gosling is the only one really giving it his all. Gosling in this sort of action comedy role is really good, the films funniest moments definitely come from his character. Really, Corwe character feels inconsequential and unnecessary - he is there because it's a buddy cop movie and for that to happen there needs to be two people, simple as that really. I just feel that Crowe doesn't play off Gosling all that well. The humor is on the crude & dark side that, much like the movie itself, has its moments though definitely isn't all that consistent. This would of benefited greatly from a rewrite and some chopping in the editing room. The plot is too "who gives a fuck" and scenes sometime either last too long or are inconsequential - the result is a mixed bag.

Still the movie, at times, is legitimately funny and has some truly great comedic moments. Ryan Gosling is great and showcases just how versatile of an actor he can be. Wouldn't recommend paying movie theater prices to go see darn thing, but as far as a time waster you'd find on Netflix goes it's not a bad choice at all.
