So apparently this movie came out 14 years ago, I would of been 8 years old at the time. I remember the movie quite fondly, it was definitely one of the big ones of my childhood. Now the problem with that is that childhood me had no fucking clue what he was talking about, I mean this would be around the same time that I thought 90s Adam Sandler movies were actually funny. So it really is no surprise to me that nowadays I don't quite like this movie as much as I did 14 years ago; though not to say that childhood me was all wrong, I still to this day adore Forest Gump. I just found the whole experience this time around to be just so incredibly insufferable at times, it is definitely more of a kid movie then I though it would be - that's not to say that I find the movie to be bad, just nowhere near as good as 8 year old me thought it was. Like this time around I wasn't as swept up, shall we say, the magic of it all, and as a result I found myself questioning the movie more and finding it all to be rather dumb at times. I really do feel that there isn't much here for adults - at least the ones who aren't drinking the nostalgia aid - or people who missed the Harry Potter hype train, it really is a movie better suited for a younger, more accepting/naive, audience. It's still a fine film but one that most likely will not work as well as you remembered it working - unless of course you get a hard on for all things Harry Potter.

Also, just saying, Chris Columbus directed this, the guy who brought us this years box office hit (not joking about it being a hit btw) Pixels - yep.
