This was on TV late last night and I'd never seen it before so I stayed up to watch it. With all the conflicting things I'd heard about it, I wasn't sure whether to expect a serious sci-fi movie or an off the wall comedy. Turns out it was neither. This is a strange movie that somehow manages to be a campy war film set in a mildly interesting sci-fi universe, a dark comedy, political satire and a teen drama at the same time. Somehow though, I liked it.
