    Today I learned that “Imagesoft” was Sony’s first North American 1st-party videogames publisher between 1989 and 1995.

    “Focus at the beginning was on marketing games exclusively for Nintendo consoles.”
    They even published a game developed by #Game Freak (the guys who churn out all those Pokémon games)!

    Starting in 1992 they published a few games for the Sega CD.

    Then in July 1995, “just two months prior to the release of the #PlayStation", Imagesoft was “merged with Sony Computer Entertainment America and became ##Sony Interactive Studios America which would later be renamed 989 Studios.”

    I was always under the impression that Sony had no stake in the video game industry prior to 1992. You live and learn.

      Editing … Sony were working with Nintendo on a CD console back in the 80s or early 90s I think. I read the Playstation came around because the two disagreed over something and Sony decided to build their own system.
