It takes like half hour for this laptop to start. x_x

I probably should buy a new laptop. Maybe even tonight. Why wait.

Editing … Half an hour doesn't sound healthy. Check your hardware (SSD or nah?), your software (bloatware or nah?) and your BIOS settings (maybe it's doing an extended RAM check / hard drive check before starting up?).

Editing … I got it used for under a hundred bucks, no doubt it was going to be slow, I'm surprised it runs at all actually. That said I do like the physicality of the laptop. It's completely black inside and out, all plastic, has sort of a matte finish. Very low profile design, almost no logos or stickers whatsoever. 15 inch I think. Lenovo ideapad. The charger is also not bulky at all, it's practically the same size as a third party Nintendo Switch Lite charger. I should try to get one identical to this but with better specs.

Editing … Well, if it has a hard drive in it, replace it with a SSD. It shouldn't be too hard. I did it with my #HP Pavilion 11-E10SG (how do I "link" pages again on Favslist? I forgot!) and the performance of that thing has improved greatly!

Editing … I don't know enough about computers to feel confident that merely replacing the hard drive will solve the issue. But that might be a fun project. I'd have to look into it.

Editing … It won't fix it Rukk. If you get an SSD you won't have enough RAM for today. I have 64GB RAM and right now I just quit everything but my antivirus to test it. All the things you want running like steam, VPN etc are stopped, and I'm still using 13% of my RAM just using a browser. If you only have 32GB, which is still a good amount, then you're over a quarter of your resources done before you try to do anything. Old laptops just need throwing away. There's a guy on Youtube who shows you how to build gaming PCs on a budget. You should try that route instead. RAM is dirt cheap and so are some components, and some give amazing results for the money. I'll try to see if I can find him again.

Editing … Yeah, plus even if I did replace the hdd it means I'd have to get another copy of Windows and install it. Not worth it.

Editing … My gaming PC still has 16GB of RAM, which is considered "adequate, but kinda low" in the year 2025. Crazy how my high-end PC built in 2016 is slowly turning into a potato. Though it's still fine for my needs these days. Optimizing your Windows goes a long way. A debloated Windows 10 LTSC 2021 runs totally fine on my Windows tablet and only uses 1.1GB RAM when idle. A non-debloated version easily chucks 1.5GB RAM (though it depends on how much RAM you have - the more RAM you have, the more RAM Windows takes).
