One of the longest-running 2D shoot-em-up franchises. A dev team at SNK took the challenge to create a more realistic, violent shooter that could also serve as a party game. The result is Metal Slug. It spawned countless sequels, a 3D shooter spinoff and one of the most successful classic mobile game series. None of the games are especially revered as all-time masterpieces, but man, Metal Slug deserves some sort of award...
