There have been numerous accusations of bias in both directions by various people over the years. While I won't deny that people are biased (obviously) the point is that it's in the BBC's mandate to be journalisticly independent of the government it serves, and there have been many times when the BBC has been confrontational with the current government (whomever they may be) about specific issues. 3. As a frequent listener of the BBC World Service who is also as far from a Tory supporter as you can get, I've never felt much in the way of Conservative bias. The coverage is generally comprehensive. I follow many different news sources and they're one of the best, up there with the likes of WaPo, NYT, and NPR. They're actually one of my favorites for world coverage. As it is the service has a great reputation among journalists generally as well as among a lot of people who follow the news.
