Editing … 1. Why on Earth would I blindly trust the competence or journalistic standards of an anonymous blogger? 2. There have been numerous accusations of bias in both directions by various people over the years. While I won't deny that people are biased (obviously) the point is that it's in the BBC's mandate to be journalisticly independent of the government it serves, and there have been many times when the BBC has been confrontational with the current government (whomever they may be) about specific issues. 3. As a frequent listener of the BBC World Service who is also as far from a Tory supporter as you can get, I've never felt much in the way of Conservative bias. The coverage is generally comprehensive. I follow many different news sources and they're one of the best, up there with the likes of WaPo, NYT, and NPR. They're actually one of my favorites for world coverage. As it is the service has a great reputation among journalists generally as well as among a lot of people who follow the news.

Editing … Yes, the BBC is government funded but they are meant to be independently run, and generally they do an okay job of that, and are reasonably transparent about their operating practices.

Editing … I'm not saying they're perfect or free of bias, and I'm certainly not saying they should be enough by themselves; you should follow a number of sources to get a decent view of things. But they're generally reliable.

Editing … They are government controlled and funded so while they do report everything, anything damaging to the government gets a tiny slot after the weather or just a page on the website. Meanwhile other parties get slated, like Corbyn getting called a terrorist sympathiser and a commie, anything damaging to him is headline news.
