In the real-world Abstergo segments of Assassin's Creed Black Flag & Rogue (haven't played past them, don't know about others), the Abstergo employees use Animus headsets, rather than the bed Desmond had to use. If a virtual reality Assassin's Creed were to be released, then so far as the game world is concerned, you are actually wearing an Animus headset. You're just a customer playing an Abstergo Entertainment Animus game!
There is the upcoming #Assassin's Creed VR Experience, however the current known details make it seem like it includes filmed scenes, which would make them non-interactive, wouldn't it? :c
