This has been the year of Dragon Quest for me. Games I've beaten so far:

    Dragon Quest II (Android)
    Dragon Quest III (Android)
    Theatrhythm: Dragon Quest
    Dragon Quest Monsters 3D
    Dragon Quest Monsters 2 3D

Currently still in the process of playing Dragon Quest VIII 3D and Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 3, which I hope to finish before Dragon Quest VII 3D releases in English next month. I've already had a Japanese copy for years, but I could not get into it. It's easily the least import-friendly game in the series, and while its slow-ass world resurrection setup didn't gel with me, I'm willing to give it another chance.

Next up is Dragon Quest Heroes which I'll be getting along with my PS4 purchase. It'll probably end up being a Slim. I just can't wait any longer, and it looks like I'll just have to double-dip when Neo comes around.

Dragon Quest Builders is coming out as well, though I don't know if a Dragon Quest skin is gonna convince me to play Minecraft.

Of course, Dragon Quest VIII 3D is getting released in English as well (possibly next year), but I'm already content with the Japanese voice acting and don't know that I'll be picking it up day 1.

And let's not forget Dragon Quest XI is scheduled to be released in Japan before May 27th of next year (to be within the series' 30th anniversary). I'll have 2 versions of that to play through. It'll be either the 3DS and NX versions or the PS4 and NX versions, depending on what the NX version is a port of (I'm hoping PS4).

It's a good time to be a Dragon Quest fan.

Editing … I have high hopes for XI, might be the greatest since VIII.

Editing … I sure hope so, but I have this feeling it'll be Dragon Quest's FF12. I mean, they didn't withhold showing off the battle system for no reason. Especially when 3DS battle footage has been out there for ages. The battles will almost certainly be seamless, which isn't an issue in itself. The question is how close will it be to DQ? There's also the risk of the world being too big, and as a result, empty and lifeless. FF12 was alright, but its world design doesn't hold a candle to DQ8. That game had such a crazy amount of detail and care put in. No other JRPG world has come close since then. We'll just have to wait and see, but I'll definitely play it either way, and I'm more excited about the PS4 (and hopefully NX) release than the 3DS release.
