Holy shit this thing takes forever to charge. I guess I never really cared about charging time in the past, since you can just leave it plugged in overnight so who cares. But my standards/habits have changed and now I want it to charge faster. Last time it took like 8 hours which is unacceptable. (Granted I had wifi on and was downloading games, but when the feck are you supposed to download games if not then??)

I think it may be my fault for charging via USB. I never use the original AC adapter/brick, instead I take the USB cable out and use that by itself. From now on I should use the entire charger. I don't know how much faster it'll be but I know it will be faster because doing this solved the problem I had w the slim Vita one time where it wouldn't charge *at all* until I used the full adapter.

This is one area where the Switch beats the Vita I suppose. The charging rate on there is quite sane.

Editing … I play Unit 13. I'm considering owning six Vitas and going through the game with each of the six operatives. (as opposed to whichever character is best suited for that mission as you're intended) That said, considering how much I try to "salvage" the Vita, for example by buying analog thumb grips, and have even considered gluing rubber feet on to the start select buttons (or volume up/down) or putting wd-40 on the charging port all to try and make the system a little more appealing.. I thought well in that case I could try out some muthafigging games right? So I started downloading some games, really scraping the bottom of the barrel at this point. I got FFX HD for fuck's sake. Hey at least I could write a review pointing out what's wrong w it? I'm likely to just keep playing Unit 13 though so it's like, whatever. :p

Editing … I bought a khaki slim vita from Japan and it's very nice (shame the screen on the slim sucks so bad seeing as it is an incredibly nice design for a handheld overall, I think I like it more than ever after seeing one of the other colors), but I want each vita color to match a particular operative and I haven't decided yet who Khaki should be. There are two operatives that would fit well, Animal and w/e the black guy is called. (The game really doesn't do a good job of helping you remember their names, lol) I bought some copies of Unit 13 already so i think ill just boot the game up and try both until I decide.

One late night I tried the PSP port of Mario 64 and I was greeted w "Itsa me!! Mario!!!!" First thing I do is turn the volume down, but I was already at the lowest volume. My only choices are "all of China knows you're here" or mute. The game itself also doesn't have any options other than stereo / mono / headset.

PSP port of Doom had the same issue. Fucking loud or mute. There are volume settings for music and sfx but changing them had no effect. I guess they're simply there as a leftover from the PC version, the modder who ported the game didn't bother to program them to work on the PSP. It's kind of interesting from a technical standpoint, in addition to being hilarious. That said, I swear I started Doom 1 from the select prompt but it was Doom 2 that booted up, so maybe the whole thing was just a fubar coded piece of shit and I shouldn't read too much into it.

Anyway I would pin it on them being homebrew but these are not isolated incidents. Gradually over time I would find that PSP games are really loud on the lowest volume setting. In fact I used to LIKE this about the PSP. "Hey, the game is the volume I want by default how convenient is that!" And it means I can quickly toggle between sound on/off for when I want to yell at my mom to make me hot pockets. When a game had volume that actually worked the way it should e.g. LittleBigPlanet PSP, I found it really strange and I somehow looked down on the game for it. Like you'd have to increase the volume meter to halfway to be able to hear the game. How laborious! And I can no longer mute the game on a whim when I want it! Whack!

I would imagine that this flaw of the PSP would "ruin" the system for me and the only reason it hasn't (thus far at least) is because so many games let you adjust music/sfx volume in the settings, thereby bailing out the system on an individual game basis. Come to think of it, after a certain point I probably began to use this feature in every single PSP game that offers it, without fail, often lowering the sfx to 40% if not lower (and often disabling music altogether) without ever really stopping to notice the fact of it. If not for the ability to do this, this flaw could very well have been the PSP's equivalent of the way the OLED Vita's minimum screen brightness is locked to Complete Ocular Destruction. At least with Vita there is a plugin that addresses the screen thing, but the PSP does not have one to fix the sound. At least, I don't think there is one.

tl;dr - I'm getting old and can't enjoy anything anymore

Also if you keep cooking, you will become better at it at your food will only get tastier. It's an investment. It takes time but it's worth it for sure. I rolled it into a sausage, wrapped it in foil and it's in the fridge marinating for 24 hours. I love cooking, it's exciting. I don't even care that the main reason I'm doing this is so I know every ingredient that goes in my body, I've caught the cooking bug and I really enjoy creating stuff now. You should cook again rukk, I'd defo eat those pics you posted.

Oh, I forgot to download the Sims games. I had one job!!

Oh well, maybe tomorrow I'll do it.

The good thing is I like to transfer the games in reverse alphabetical order (so they show up alphabetically on the psp) and I only added two iso games before giving up, so I am still only up to the letter S. x)

Editing … But that doesn't automatically make them bad. In fact I put an unexpected amount of hours in Sims Castaway on PSP way back when, I think 2017, before I even had cfw meaning it was actually a physical copy. The only reason I stopped was because the game kept crashing during a later island when I started planting stuff. Normally I'd blame the game for crashing, but I think it may have been because I used to leave my PSP's WLAN switch on, which I was told causes memory leaks on the 3k model which causes games to crash. And I think the guy who said this was actually telling the truth!! Flatout on PSP used to crash constantly for me, but down the road I gave the game another chance and didn't encounter any issues. There is no reason to have the WLAN switch on anymore so I always considered playing Castaway again. If it doesn't work I could always try on Vita assuming that makes a difference.

There is a lot you can do to modernize sims 2 a bit but it has it's limits and the game internally is a huge mess. But it's not looking like the sims 5 will be anything like what I am waiting for. Maybe I could try sims 3 one day. I tried sims 4 but I was a bit put off by the sims themselves and the fact that EA wants me to be perpetually online and connect via their weird online thingy.

Editing … It's not always online I think but to play it it has to check online if you are allowed to play or something. I didn't know there are sims 4 copies that don't require an origin account or EA app. That seems like a better deal then. Especially when origin is down. It seems that if origin is down nobody can play the game at all. So offline version would be superior definitely.

Considering hacking my New 3DS XL. If I do I'd have hacked three different handhelds (PSP, Vita, 3DS) and that would be impressive! All that would be left after that is the Switch Lite, lol.

Editing … You hacked your Switch right? I was trying to find out if there are any tweaks available that fixes the Switch's problems. I lucked out with the Vita- there are plugins for lowering the brightness (PSP also has one for this) and for removing the lock screen, which are exactly what I wanted. I hear there's even a color saturation mod for the slim model. (Although this was Sony's doing, the mod merely unhides it) I'm not confident about the Switch though because my demands seem to be specific to me. (Oh, come to think of it, I should start with more common wants like button remapping for games. If there is no plugin for that, it's safe to say there won't be one for the other things I want.) But another concern is my save file. My Pokemon save is locked to the system so I wouldn't want to do anything to the system that might compromise my ability to export it later.
