Imagine a cross-over between Gone Home and P.T. and you've got the gist of this masterpiece. So, after a series of spooky rooms and two jump scares in a row, I opened a door and walked into a simple enough room. The room had no furniture. Just four walls and a door. Soon it had no doors. Just four walls. I noped the fuck out of the game. Turned it on the next day and started playing from a checkpoint, expecting to replay the game up to the doorless room part. Except, I immediately found out that a different set of rooms and spooks awaited me. Fuck this (brilliant) game!
Pros: Near perfect mix of nervewrecking psychological and jump-scare horror, genius game design/tricks, messes with you in all the best/worst ways, superb story and writing, (environmental) storytelling is some of the best the medium has seen, the little touches in gameplay are great, different paths and excellent endings, the more you invest in the game - the scarier it gets, incredible exploration, excellent music and art, astounding pacing
Cons: Could have used more assets and paintings, a few spooks are reused
Score: 10.0 (Classic!)
