Final Fantasy VII is a game that promises a lot during the first couple of hours, but fails to deliver on the long run. First and foremost, the juvenile, or should I say, kids' cartoon plot is really engaging, I like most of the characters and the way the story (and death) was handled. The graphics are really good and the soundtrack is something worth listening during the day. I don't like the random battles, the minigames, the huge amount of filler content, but the good outweigh the bad. I didn't actually finish the game, because it froze once and the final boss killed me twice. As I was feeling like I was wasting my time (especially because the Supernova animation takes a lot of minutes), I decided to give up and just watch the ending on Youtube. When a game feels like a waste of time, the best thing to do is just let it go. Overall I enjoyed FFVII, it is not the best JRPG ever (I prefer Panzer Dragoon Saga and Chrono Trigger), but a very good one. Now I'm ready to try FF IX.

Editing … "I just can't understand why I have to fight monsters every two steps when I'm not in a town. Since killing stuff is the main mechanic of the game (I don't think you can get experience otherwise), I am forced to kill thousands of innocent creatures for sake of it. That's probably a JRPG thing, but I prefer if I am given the choice to spare some enemies in RPGs." - Yea, it's a hallmark of almost all JRPG's. Wouldn't be an FF game without it :) You have to remember this was back when games were just made to be fun, and didn't need to make sense
