All you little critters of Favsland, tell me, why are you hyped about FF7RE? It's a remake of a game that already exists.
Not even in a "lol rehash XD" kinda way, but an actual remake. It's the same game with maybe a little bit of whipped cream on top of it. But still the same game. So where does these huge amounts of hype come from?
And why do they need to release it episodically? I mean, FF7 was not THAT big. It was huge for it's time, sure, and it is big, but not "AAA-budget can't handle it, thus needs to milk money" big.

Editing … Many people hold FF VII dear to their heart and want to replay the game, but with a shiny new coat of paint, as well as game mechanics that are brought up to date. Even the biggest die hard fans will agree that the game has issues, such as the poor translation/writing, so a bigger budget and higher production values might bring the inner child in people once again and that sense of awe. Personally, I played FF VII just recently and I still want to see the game live up to its full potential, as the original is a top 5 ATF material, but for various reasons it didn't chart on my list. The remake, if done right, might just do the trick. Although the multi-release plan makes me wary.

Editing … I'm hyped because FF7 is one of my all-time fave Final Fantasy worlds and any FF that makes a return to that cool cyber-punky type setting is gonna be high on my must-play list. I would prefer a Genesis sequel (originally meant to come out on 2017, so still a tiny bit of hope) but a remake will be cool too. It's not like I expect the remake to replace the old game, I see it as more of an addition :) and more FF7 is always welcome :) As for the multi-release, Square Enix just don't have the financial stability they once did and anything they could do to wring out just a little extra cash, they will pursue relentlessly

Editing … I'd guess because a lot of people have rose tinted "it's the best game ever made" memories of the original that it can't live up to any more because like most 5th gen games it's aged terribly. Hence they need a remake so they can get the same buzz they did back when the game was new and impressive plus so they can recruit a new generation to their FF7 worshipping cult. Or something like that.... ;)

Editing … Square has pretty good financial stability at the moment. Their MMO is printing money. And I disagree on FF7 being the best game ever made. It's not even the best FF in my opinion. Never understood the hype, it was and is a great game, but still.

Editing … But I swear to god, if this becomes a trend, this episodic bullshit, I'll get mad as all hell. And I'll blame it on FF7.

Editing … I heard something about episodes. I'm buying it no matter what because it's FF7 but it will be the only game I buy in episodes.

Editing … They don't even have a proper reason to do that. It's just a way to get a loyal and rabid fanbase to spend their money on it.

Editing … FF7 without the polygon graphics, the tinny MIDI sounds, the clumsy translation, and the by-now-dated FMV isn't FF7. It's the whole package I love, including its flaws, and I fail to see how a remake could possibly live up to that. Just speaking for myself though.
