    Saved!
As a fan of both Winslet and Carrey, and as a fan of the surreal and anachronous storytelling, I'm kicking myself for not watching this sooner. Eternal Sunshine raises some intriguing, ethical questions while depicting the growth of a flawed but nonetheless beautiful relationship between two unlikely partners. The way Carrey's classic, silly persona emerges in quiet and reserved Joel as he becomes closer to Clementine is wonderful. I also really enjoyed the imagery (e.g. how scenery crumbled or disappeared as his memories were being erased, or the distorted faces when he was in an erased memory, almost like a glitch in a game) and the notion of him jumping through his long-term memory to "hide" from the erasure procedure.
