Chrono Trigger was undoubtedly a masterpiece at its time of release, but time hasn't been especially kind to it. Certain areas of it, such as world and character interactions are incredible to this day, but its gameplay and level design haven't aged particularly well. Such a shame that, during my time with the game, I was thinking more about its infuriatingly tedious gameplay and level design than all of its cool and interesting ideas.
Pros: Plenty of revolutionary ideas, superb time traveling mechanics and the way your actions influence the world, solid story and characters, some solid music, New Game+ and multiple endings, neat little touches
Cons: Cringe worthy padding, tedious gameplay, plenty of unavoidable fights, uninteresting visual and level design, poorly rewards exploration

Editing … Funny, i find that 3d titans such as FF7 dont age well, especially due to the fact that it used early 3d polygonal graphics & endless cut-scenes (also contrived storytelling). When it comes to chrono trigger i have few complaints. Still looks gorgeous, awesome combat (where you can do different combos), re-playability form the get go, choices that matter, and multiple endings, with one of the most epic stories. Whats not to love sour puss ? Weird how people can feel so differently about a subject, hu !

Editing … I must agree with you Martenas, 5th generation games age poorly but fourth generation is still as good as it was before
