Super Mario Bros. 3 has the best balance between the detailed sprites of the 16-bit era and the intense challenge of the 8-bit era. Although I still have reservations about the map system, I love all the new power-ups and bonus stages. This sequel smoothed out all the edges of the original Super Mario Bros. to provide an impressive, streamlined platforming experience. The addition of a storyline also helped to add depth to the Mushroom Kingdom.
