  Editing … the writer, Shigesato Itoi, has stated himself that no more mother games will be released by Nintendo, so he wants to see fans make it instead. Basically, it's already approved by him, and most of the mother staff. Also, Mother is a dying series now, so I'm guessing Nintendo won't mind. If this does get C&D'd, the developers can easily change the title and still release it as a stand-alone game, influenced by mother.
