Super Metroid showed that an adventure platformer could truly become a work of art. The no-dialogue storyline may seem archaic, but the entire environment is incredibly diverse. Super Metroid's ambient soundtrack has that mysterious, unsettling vibe that keeps people exploring. Every map contained hidden treasures that everyone just had to find. Best of all, the save points are perfectly placed, so that every playthrough feels like an accomplishment.
