    Nintendo is disgusting scum.

Soon there won't be any ROMs on the Internet thanks to Nintendo. This actually makes me want to pirate their games simply because I despise their antics. From now on I won't give them any of my money. If I want a game, I'm gonna get it used.

Editing … Every Nintendo system gets a pretty healthy custom firmware community, so you've got some luck there if you really wanna pirate. The Wii U with custom firmware can play pretty much all of Nintendo's back catalog, it's like pirating every (almost) system in one.

Editing … Oh, they always are. The cfw has to update with nearly every system update--sometimes an update becomes unbeaten, in which case the solution is to get a system that isn't fully updated. I'm thinking of installing cfw on my Vita, so it's lucky that I didn't turn it on for ages and never updated it past the point of no return. I don't know if the Wii U has a point of no return though, and I also don't know if it even still gets updates.

Editing … Mac gaming was a thing before Steve Jobs ruined Macs (Steve Jobs is a whole nother rant). We could just as well head to Linux. But that's not the point, Windows is great for gaming only when Microsoft isn't getting involved in the gaming aspect. When they do, we get the worst two things to ever exist in PC gaming: GFWL and the Windows Store. In the console market, their biggest flaw isn't their inferior hardware to Sony, it's the business practices they forced on the industry. Paid online multiplayer exists because of MS, charging developers in order to update their games exists because of MS, forcing developers to charge for otherwise free content updates led MS to creating the shitty DLC markets we have today. Microsoft's only goal in gaming is to find out how to squeeze the most money out of it. They're the most anti-consumer fuckers here.

Editing … Look at Sony consoles. Each generation there are a bunch of new original games, God of War, The Last of Us etc etc, there is ALWAYS something new and interesting. Nintendo fans get either another OoT port or more games in the same old tired series. Even when they DO get a new game such as Xenoblade the hardware is so old you're playing a game that's no better than the gen before, and most people like the new improvements available with the latest gen.

Editing … Would you really rather they didn't release remakes of their older games? Sony does the same, it's a great practice, it rewards new adopters. And there's only been two OoT re-releases, Gamecube and 3DS. And what tired series'? They seem very healthy to the vast amount of people playing them. A lack of new IPs is a problem, but not a huge one when their sequels still break new grounds. Breath of the Wild is one of the most dynamic open worlds yet, and Mario Hat is already one of the most beloved 3D platformers. Yeah, Nintendo takes longer to reach the hardware milestones of Sony and Microsoft, but they sure seem to do a lot more with it. Hell, Horizon: Zero Dawn is on much more advanced hardware than the Switch and Wii U, but the environment lacks basic physics, and the animals have less-than-basic AI. The world interaction is minimal, which is a disservice to any game with exploration. When Nintendo gets to that level of hardware their open worlds will just get more fuckin sick.

They introduce new tracks, new items, new characters, and new mechanics, it keeps the game fresh. Plus Mario Karts are limited to one per system--it's hardly milked, and it also keeps playerbases from getting split.

Just keep the quality and don't run it to the ground. COD, NFS, AC, Guitar Hero are all examples of chunking out games as fast as possible just to capitalize in the name until you ruin the franchise. I would argue no Nintendo franchise is "ruined".
