AJJ, known before as Andrew Jackson Jihad, just to be 100% sure that whenever someone talks about one of their albums they spend just 5 minutes naming the band and album, is a folk-punk band formed in 2004, what I liked from what I’ve listened from them is their high energy, clever lyrics and music made to scream along with them.
Their second album, that you can read the full title on the title, that thing’s huge, is full of short but awesome songs. Rejoice is a reminder that despite everything bad in the world, we’re all trying our best… so REJOICE!
I quite like Survival Song, which turns into a complete bar song midways.
People Ii: The Reckoning is probably the best track in the album, and also the longest, with 4 minutes in length, talking about the meaningless of life.
But despite all the negativity, I think the album has a good message overall, strengthened by its final track, People.
“People are wasteful, they waste all the food
People are hateful, and people are rude
But God, I love some people sometimes
Because people are very, very special”
And I leave you with this:
“And people are people regardless of skin
And people are people regardless of creed
People are people regardless of gender
People are people regardless of anything”
