The only two Switch games I'm interested in so far are Mario X-Com and Yoshi, while the latter one isn't even out yet.

Splatoon 2 has no offline splitscreen co-op, so it's worthless to me. Mario Odyssey's gameplay is way too bloated and padded (I feel like I'd have way, way less fun with it than I had with Mario 3D World and 3D Land), and while I have bought and played several Zelda games over the years, I haven't enjoyed a single one of them. Weapon degradation has to be one of the worst gameplay mechanics there is.

I've already played Mario Kart 8 for 50 hours on Wii U, beat Captain Toad on Wii U; the prospect of a portable Stardew Valley is very alluring to me, but the game is coming out on PS Vita next week, so

After playing Xenoblade X (the OST, story, characters are garbage tier) I don't feel like playing another game in that franchise; I already have several Kirby games and have no urge to play any of them since I consider them to be simply not fun

I loathed Donkey Kong Returns + Tropical Freeze on Wii and Wii U so I'm not buying the game again just for an easy mode.

Arms, Labo, Mario Tennis Aces, Just Dance, Snipperclips and Fire Emblem are 100% unappealing to me.

Lega Ninjago is supposedly a rushed bug ridden glitchfest.

Hyrule Warriors is shit - hated it on Wii U

I loved Lego City Undercover on Wii U and 3DS, beat them both, have no inclination to buy them again.

Already beat Rayman Legends (on of my top 10 games of all time), hated yet still beat Bayonetta 1 and 2, completed LA Noire and Skyrim on Xbox 360 years ago and also have no urge to revisit them.

I've been playing them since the beginning, and can sleep walk thru most of them, but I would recommend Mario Odyssey. That and the Mario Galaxy games are the only Mario platformers since SMW that I've played with any sense of enthusiasm - I've bought them all more out of habit than anything.

But anyway, seeing as I'm done with PSP, I can replace it with something. I thought I wasn't really interested in Switch but now I kinda am.

Editing … The whole appeal seems to be that it's portable, not that it can play Assassin's Creed on your TV. It's a real AAA experience on the go--yeah, AAA games moved to portable systems have always been a downgrade (Uncharted, God of War, Killzone, Resistance on PSP and Vita) but people still wanted that portable version, and this time it's a much lesser downgrade. Look at how the Vita runs Borderlands 2, and then look at how the Nvidia Shield TV runs Borderlands 2--the Switch has the very same graphics chip as the Shield TV. Whereas the Vita can only run a severely gimped version of the game, one that the 3DS wouldn't be able to run at all, the Switch would be able to run a basically uncompromised portable version.

Although I recognize the SNES as a great system with a great library, I've simply always seen Nintendo systems as "the other system" that I usually buy near the end of a gen to play the 5-15 games that caught my interest. On that basis, I've always been fine with Nintendo. I usually have fun playing Nintendo systems, it's just that it doesn't happen terribly often. For almost 30 years, the other systems have been too good at generally drawing my attention away from Nintendo...and then it always dawns on me that I haven't played a Zelda game in a while.

I then pick up the competing platforms further down the line (usually used & on the cheap), but then I'm only looking at console exclusives, because I've already got the multiplats covered...and THAT number usually sits somewhere between 5 and 15.

It's a nice system, but I struggle to find software that I'd personally want to spend meaningful time with. Most of what's good I already bought on the cheap for the WiiU, the 3rd party multiplats are already covered (with trophy/achievement support to boot), and what's left is thin. It's a reminder of why I always pick up Nintendo systems late in the game. However, I do think that Mario Odyssey is very worthwhile if you already own the system.
