An all-around great game. After the very disappointing Super Mario 3D World, Nintendo is finally back with an epic adventure that isn't held back by silly time restrains. It features a plethora of great ideas, with Cappy being only one of the many things that will put a smile on your face. There's so much stuff to that it might become overwhelming even! I spent over 100 hours on Super Mario Odyssey and it was a time well spent.

It's not without issues though. I feel like I can't control Mario as easily as in Super Mario Galaxy - most of the jumps seem a little too short. Many things aren't properly explained in the game, especially some moves with Cappy which are necessary to complete certain tasks. Motion controls are forced - there is no way you can get every moon without motion controls as they are often more powerful and accurate than using the buttons. Very obvious pop-in and some low-resolution textures can sometimes be irritating, which is a shame as it's otherwise a graphically amazing game with smooth animations. The hardware clearly isn't powerful enough for this game. It's obvious that Nintendo wanted to do more than they actually could due to the constrains of the hardware. Sometimes collecting the moons feels more like a grind than something that should be fun.

Yes, there is room for improvement, just as there was room for improvement in Super Mario Galaxy. Nintendo actually did improve in Super Mario Galaxy 2 and put out - at least in my opinion - the best 3D platformer ever. I want Super Mario Odyssey 2 to be that kind of game.
