Also according to this article in October the police arrest nine people PER DAY to combat trolls on the Internet. Glad to see the police are using manpower and resources on this rather than underage girls getting raped!

Editing … The guy seems like an idiot, it's very bad taste and I've been to funnier funerals. It is a bizarre case of arguable anti-semitism though because he seems to intend it as a joke. So yeah, I don't think he should be locked up or get a criminal record over it either.

Editing … Those US examples aren't exactly matters of speech--and it's our free speech protections that make it almost impossible to sue for cases such as libel or slander. Every opinion is allowed to be stated, I can even say that boy oh boy do I fucking wish those Jews would just die. However, if I start telling you to buy up your jew-slaying rifles, I've basically stated a purpose to actually get people hurt. That's not a matter of speech, that's a matter of declaring violent intentions. Real cases of libel and slander are similarly actually hurting people--but as it's very hard to prove that the claims of others were actually intended to hurt someone's career or public image, almost all suits regarding the topic are unsuccessful.

Editing … Libel, slander, incitement and copyright laws are all restrictions on what you can/can't say so I would say they're restrictions on free speech. I agree they're sensible restrictions to do with what hurts people.

Editing … On the one hand I like the JS Mill idea that even hateful fools should have free speech so they're exposed and can be condemned/argued against. On the other hand the worst hate speech strikes me as much worse than copyright violation or slander and often borders on incitement to violence.
