At first glance, "Your Name" seems like another overambitious love story for director Makoto Shinkai. However, the storyline plays to all the director's strengths perfectly. The result is a gripping, frantic race to somehow change the future against all odds. Sure, everyone might have seen this sort of storyline in movies such as Frequency. However, Makoto Shinkai wastes no time in showing us how precious memories can fade away in mere seconds. The plot is deceptively simple, but Shinkai turns it into a trippy, cerebral out-of-body experience.
