Valiant Hearts: The Great War is one of the best war games ever made. Don't be fooled by its gameplay premise (2D adventure/ action platformer) or its aesthetics (comic book visuals), this game is the real deal. Its gameplay is imaginative and engaging, its story is bleak but with the ever present glimmers of hope. Don't pass up on this gem!
Pros: Amazing art style and animation, varied and fun gameplay, history lessons integrated into scenarios and story, excellent sound design, story and characters, great voice acting and music, surprisingly funny moments amidst all the hell, variation in tone, gameplay and characters keep thing interesting throughout, great boss battles
Cons: Anna's sections seem the least gameplay inspired, way too many collectibles some of which basically repeat themselves, a couple of weak moments in the story are a tad disappointing, up until the very end it doesn't go all the way in showing the horrors of war
