VIII is essentially the ultimate evolution of the party phase, taking the system started in Seven but also bringing back the platforming elements from the previous phase in the series, and also adjusting the camera. So, just liking one game doesn't mean you'll love them all. VIII is my favorite, but Origin, Oath in Felghana and Ark of Napishtim are all excellent as well.
