Well one title change later and a trailer drop, aaaaaand this doesn't look half as exciting as what I was hoping for. This is David Leitch, the co-director of John Wick, so why are so many of those punches so lacking in verisimilitude? When Charlize Theron was clubbing the shit out of Tom Hardy in Fury Road it felt brutal. Maybe it's the compromises made for the long take, maybe the trailer is poorly cut, or maybe Chad Stahelski is the real talent behind John Wick. Whatever it is my hype has plummeted. Also what initially sparked my interest was the idea of McAvoy doing another action flick since he's one of my favorite actors and I like seeing him in a variety of roles, and in that trailer he doesn't do anything interesting. And the gratuitous lesbian tonguing looks like pandering to horny teen males. Yawn.
