Maybe spending 2 grand on a PC isn't really worth it considering
    - I'm only playing indie games and the occasional sim on PC anyway
    - having no PC allows me to focus my attention on my other hobbies and or consoles

Editing … Whenever I think "2 Grand", I personally think of something more substantial than a PC. What I get out of a PC is something that I value much less than 2 grand. Of course, what people put their value in is different for everyone, but when I start thinking of 2 grand worth of disposable money, I start thinking about that relaxing vacation that I feel that I'm long overdue for. When it comes to gaming, I get what I need out of a $300 console. I'm not a stickler for $2000 perfection when $300 feels fun enough.

Editing … Plus we're at the point where you can outperform a PS4 Pro with just $500. 4K resolution's easy shit now, but even sub-1080p AAA PS4 games (actually, plenty indies too, but that's just due to horrible devs) will struggle to keep just 30 frames. Meanwhile, a "bad port" on PC = "I can't max this out at 60fps at the moment." It's a pretty comfortable place to be.

Editing … When it looked like this console generation was going to be a repeat of the 7th in terms of performance, I decided to go all in on a sexy rig. A lot of HD remasters on PS4 like GTA V and Assassin's Creed don't even target 60 fps. I also have no plans to buy a 4K TV anytime soon so the Pro's half-assed push for 4K feels like a huge waste of energy that could be better spent on performance. Even if that weren't the case, I can barely tell the difference between 1080p and 4K, and I have pretty sharp eyes. Hell, I played the Nioh demo at 720p for better performance (an option more games should have btw) and by a country mile it was easier on the eyes than the 30 fps 1080p option. Plus PCs have all the other amenities 1) All the everyday and business uses a computer has 2) Porn 3) Free multiplayer 4) The most affordable storefronts (Steam, Humble Bundle etc) 5) Porn 6) The absolute best control scheme for shooters, strategy games and many others 7) The best modding support by an enormous margin 8) In game graphical settings to tweak to your preferences that not even Nioh come close to matching 9) Zany indie titles that never come to console 10) Did I mention porn? Personally speaking a good PC makes every weekend feel like a "relaxing vacation."

Editing … 6 could apply to every game, considering you can use any control scheme you want, too. Also, my current average cost per PC game is $1.07. I keep track :p

Editing … I meant mouse/keyboard and worded it badly, but yes, much greater options for remapping keys is another big plus, though ironically I'd much prefer that versatility for console gamepads.
